Sofortbild currently uses the Nikon camera drivers exclusively. Since releasing Sofortbild (and Nikon Control before renaming the software) we got emails asking for support of basically every DSLR ever released. Models from other manufacturers like Canon, Sony, Olympus or others are not supported at this time. Tl dr: Sofortbild only works with the specific Nikon DSRL cameras outlined on the Supported Nikon Cameras page. вЂњmy cameraвЂќ is a placeholder for any not yet supported Nikon or any Canon, Sony, etc. Yes, the old design looked a bit outdated (so what!), but it worked, and worked very well.The single most frequently asked question about Sofortbild is: вЂњDoes Sofortbild support my camera?вЂќ or вЂњWhen will Sofortbild support my camera?вЂќ. If you try to enter a value at the right after starting to make the new partition to get the size you want, it will instead create yet another partition.Д«asically, it seems to me someone just got tired of the old look and changed it for the sake of change. Want a new partition to be a specific size? Good luck with that! All you can do is drag to the closest value the pie will move to. Can't tell you how many times I've tried to do something like create two partitions, clicked Apply, and it suddenly shows three partitions. Second, I've tried partitioning drive with DU under EL Cap, and it's the clumsiest thing I have ever seen. The new version cannot be altered to show hidden partitions. There's certainly no need for two of them, so I use DU in Yosemite to show hidden partitions, which allows me to remove the recovery partition on the WD drive.

That means when I do a full install of an EL Cap update on each disk, I end up with a hidden recovery partition on both drives. For instance, I have EL Cap installed on my SSD and again on WD hard drive as a bare minimum install to do disk maintenance and other things with. One, I not just like being able to see hidden partitions, I sometimes need to see them.

One being the Sofortbild camera tethering software still doesn't work in El Cap, thanks to Nikon dragging their heels on releasing new SDK's for El Cap so the software can recognize their cameras.Д«ut, I tend to also use it for Disk Utility because the new version is just too weird, fairly crippled and buggy. I keep a partition with Yosemite on my drive for a few reasons, though I normally work in El Capitan all day. I just want to know if anyone has found an alternate GUI disk utility.

This isn't a post about how to do a certain function. Thank goodness I can learn to do that, but some people shouldn't have to use Terminal. But, I don't want to do that for things that I used to be able to do in GUI. Please, I understand that I can get a lot of the functions using Terminal. Just a simple little utility app? Any recommendations? So my question: Is there an alternative GUI type Disk Utility program out there that one can use? Most importantly, one that functions similar to the old Disk Utility.

So okay another Apple included program basically useless that they probably will let die instead of fixing. I'm not one to experiment quite that far. I've searched around and it seems some people re-install Yosemite's Disk Utility. Thank goodness for some good 3rd party apps that make it easier/ simpler. It also makes those of us with CD/DVD drives work harder to do basic things. Well, after that debacle, which yes - was 'green' user error, I had to get a Fusion Drive education! Without the debug menu, you can't see all the partitions on your drive either! The partition area was easier to understand than the circle which bounces around and is difficult to even type a number in the box.

When I initially upgraded, I made the mistake of trying to partition my hard drive (which I had done lots of times in Mavericks all the way back to Snow on another machine). You need to be able to resize these things. It makes you think maybe you can, because you can put the cursor there and try, but it does nothing! You're stuck with a column where you can't see the full name of drives and if you have a long list, you have to continue to scroll down. You can't resize the window or the column.

That was convenient, but it's not the only thing missing. I'm not talking about being able to Verify & Fix permissions. I know you can still do things from the Command Line (terminal). So many things are either missing and/or not user friendly. El Cap's Disk Utility is severely crippled.
